French Christmas Markets: Amiens

French Christmas markets ... in France

French Christmas markets are a great part of the build up to Christmas, and the best way to experience one is of course in France itself. The city of Amiens hosts the biggest and most spectacular one in northern France. From the last weekend in November to just after Christmas the streets of the city are filled with over 120 individual stalls and all sorts of rides and attractions to amuse the younger visitors. And during the month of December, the façade of the Cathedral is lit up to appear as it would have done in medieval times. So if it is a quiet romantic few days away you are looking for in the lead up to Christmas, or a pre-Christmas treat for the children, a weekend Christmas break is a must. Only 35 minutes away is the small hamlet of Basse Copette. On offer, luxury but affordable bed and breakfast or self catering accommodation, for a weekend or a few days in the week. A Christmas market break at Basse Copette offers a great deal.

We came here for my wife’s 40th birthday treat and what a treat!!! Fantastic house, superb location, amazing food and a gem in Thomas. The Christmas market in Amiens was magical, the kids would have loved it …

Give the children a treat they will remember!

From any time between 26 November and 22 December 2010, you can choose straight forward B&B or self catering accommodation, or take an inclusive family offer, and there is a gourmet option for adults.

We have spent 3 nights at Basse Copette, and wish we could have stayed longer! The accommodation is charming – the Normandy suite in particular is perfect for a young family. Thank you Thomas for being so welcoming and friendly (and very patient with 3 children!) And your cooking – Oh. My. God. A taste sensation.
