Spring Break

Spring at Basse Copette

Enjoy a Spring Break in Normandy at Basse Copette

Spring is a truly magical time at Basse Copette. Come and relax in comfort, and watch the striking Bresle Valley come alive again. As the surrounding forests start turning green with new shoots, the apple and cherry trees, daffodils and tulips add touches of white and yellow. Basse Copette is a truly tranquil place to spend a long weekend when your summer holiday is still a while off. And this is the time when the towns and villages start having their foires à tout, brocantes and vide-greniers, the French equivalent of car-boot sales and garage sales.

Arrive at Basse Copette mid afternoon to freshly homemade scones and jam with tea or coffee. For one of your evenings enjoy a gourmet meal, sampling the culinary delights of Normandy — with a variety of choices to suit every taste. The meal begins at the fireside with a local cocktail, Kia Normande, and tomato & spring onion bruschetta. A typical menu is as follows:

asparagus & lemon confit
cucumber jus
filet of beef in red wine sauce
local Normandy cheese with red onion confit
clementine marmalade soufflée

Round off your meal with tea or coffee and petit fours back at the fireside.

Have an early start and a continental breakfast, and then head out for the day. There is so much in the area to choose from it is impossible to list all the options – your host will be happy to advise – but there is Monet’s house and gardens, and a great collection of impressionist paintings in the Rouen art gallery. And of course there are the ubiquitous cathedrals, chateaux, shops and fine restaurants! Or you can lay in bed for an extra hour or two and start the day later with brunch: grapefruit and bucks fizz, fresh croissants and homemade jams, eggs Benedict or salmon fumée & scrambled eggs, tea, coffee or hot chocolate.
